Do you think it is alright to get married while you are still in grad school or do you think it is better to get married after you graduate? I want to become a School Psychologist and will have to go through grad school and a 1 year internship before I graduate. I was wondering what you think about getting married while in grad school based on the finiacial part. Will getting married while still in school put a finicial burden on the marriage, and what if having a baby comes up before graduation?

I am considering grad school for either social work or mental health counseling. I am leary of making the investment because I have no experience in what would be considered either social work or psychology.

My undergrad degree is in psychology, but there are limited opportunties for its use in a work setting. I am considering applying for some volunteer counseling positions so that I am not trying to get an advanced degree in something where I have no professional experience. I worked for the department of corrections as an officer for four years, which is the only experience that I have that is remotely related to social work/counseling, but I am no longer in that field. I returned to office work in order to finish my bachelor’s degree and have a more stable home life.

What do you think is the best course of action?
Wisconsin requires 3000 hours of supervised counseling for either mental health counselor or LCSW.
I just wondered if when applying for jobs after grad school they would wonder why I never worked in the field before seeking an advanced degree.

I’m starting my grad school search, and I’m kind of stuck on figuring out where to apply. I know the very general area I want to go to (the east coast area), and I know what I want to study (masters in social work). Now, I’m just kind of stuck figuring out how to narrow down which schools I want to apply to.
If anyone has any links of good grad school searches, or good ways to find out ratings for programs in schools, that would be great. Thanks!

Several schools offer programs that allow you to combined your grad school education with the Peace-Corps program. I want to do both Peace-Corps and Grad school. None of the school i really want to go to offer this, and the programs are not as academic as i would like. The advantage is saving some time, cool life experience, and tuition would be reduced.

Any thoughts people?

I just withdrew from a class - physics. It’s not required, but I’m planning on going to grad school for ecology. Will this look really bad on my transcript? My grades are otherwise pretty good, As and Bs.
