dashgalaxy86 asked:

The context may be important, so please take note; my girlfriend is from another country and she is looking to go to grad school in America. She speaks pretty good English but she’s not quite “near-native” in her proficiency level. What are some vocab words that any native speaker would know? Keep in mind, she is not a bad speaker, so don’t give me too many nouns, or words like “gesture”. I’m looking for academically useful words that smart Americans would know.
