There’s no reason why you can’t ace a grad school exam. Acing an exam isn’t about being the smartest person in the class, but about being the most prepared. Acing a grad school exam starts the first day. Cultivating good study habits will not only help you ace your exam but ace your class as well.

The first step to acing an exam is taking good notes. Attend your lectures and take notes on the important topics of the day. Taking good notes well help you when test time rolls around. All you have to do is open up your notebook and refresh yourself on the course material.

There are a couple ways to take notes. Some people like to write in a spiral notebook while others like to bring their laptops to class and type out their notes while their teachers lecture. Find the best way for you. After your class, look over your notes and clarify anything that looks incomplete. You can even make a summary of the topics you learned that day so that it’s easier to flip through your notes to find the information you need. Getting organized early will make it easier come exam time.

To ace an exam, you must study of course. Studying doesn’t mean pulling an all-nighter and cramming weeks worth of information in one night. This may work for some people but chances are you’ll forget everything you learned after the test. What happens when your final exam comes around? Then you’ll have to cram a semester’s worth of information in your brain. Take the smart road and don’t procrastinate.

If you have an exam scheduled in two weeks, then there’s no reason to wait until the last minute to study. Study a little each day. You’ll find that you retain the information longer because you are actually learning. On the night before your test, all you have to do is go over your notes one more time to summarize everything you’ve learned.

If you find it hard to motivate yourself to study, join a study group. Study groups are a great way to learn your material. You can ask questions to clarify topics and push each other to learn.

If you feel that you need more help, then finding a tutor might be necessary. Tutor’s can give you individualized attention that will help you excel in your subject.

The last thing you should do to ace an exam is get a good night’s sleep. There’s no better feeling then being confident that you’ve learned all you could about the material. Sleep easy knowing that you are fully prepared and wake up refreshed and ready to sit for that exam. Don’t forget to eat before the exam. You don’t want to distract your classmates with your growling stomach!
