Okay right now I have a Dell XPS M170 for almost 3 years (the 3-year warranty ends in Nov 28). It was top of the line when I bought it with its big screen, video gard (gaming), etc etc by that time. HW not only by now is kinda “old”, but also, since I am petite, it is big and super heavy for me while I carry it around through grad school, work and airports. By now I think its time to buy a new one.
Right now I am interested in a MacBook Pro not only because all the pros about macs but also since basically all the software that I need to use for my thesis only comes for Mac.
I am pretty sure I am going to buy one but a friend told me to wait since there are rumors of an upgrade in the near future .(~September). Is it possible that it is true? The “possible” upgrade is worth the wait? (Some say they are going to change the case, others the keyboard to the Mac book Air keayboard). Besides the usual hardware upgrades 2-3 times per year, is it expected a major change?

i have a macbook and love it. But I would wait because Apple is coming out with a new OS (snow leopard) later this year or next year.
The macbook pro is right in the product lifecycle so its your call how bad do you really need it the middle of it now.
