Are there things that grad school applicants often did not do as undergrads, but should have done, that make a difference in being accepted or rejected? What is the best way to ensure acceptance into a graduate program?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

Maintain a high GPA, show initiative in your studies and demonstrate your ability to do independent and original research and get good recommendations from your undergraduate professors.

    - good GPA, especially in your major
    - rigorous coursework (don’t just take all easy courses to get good grades)
    - a variety of courses such as language, science with a lab, higher math, and statistics.
    - good letters of rec, get to know some of your instructors!
    - internships or related volunteer work helps
    - good GRE scores (your SATs won’t matter)
    - most important, a strong essay on why you want THIS program at THIS school
